South Africa was the first country to reach a deal under the JETP, securing a $8.5 billion financing pledge in 2021. Indonesia secured a pledge of $20 billion and Vietnam $15.5 billion in deals struck in late 2022. Without the plan, Indonesia's greenhouse gas emissions are expected to reach more than 350 million tons in 2030. How would the JETP financing be arranged? G7 donors as well as Norway and Denmark have pledged a total $10 billion public financing for Indonesia while the remaining $10 billion will come from public financing.

The puzzle game on his Android phone had been interrupted by a video showing Hamas militants, terrified Israeli families and blurred graphic footage. Reuters has not been able to establish how the ad came to her son's video game, but her family isn't alone. In at least one case, the ads were played inside the popular "Angry Birds" game made by SEGA-owned developer Rovio (ROVIO.HE). Google ran more than 90 ads for the foreign ministry but declined to comment on where it displayed those ads. In the Cassis family's case, the ads appeared in a game called "Alice's Mergeland" made by a developer called LazyDog Game.

This week, Mr. Biden is steering American involvement in two overseas wars and monitoring the continuing calamity of a speakerless House of Representatives, and there is another government shutdown crisis looming next month. John F. Kirby, a White House spokesman, played down the idea that global crises could distract Mr. Biden from his visitor, or perhaps even keep him waiting. During Mr. Biden and Mr. Albanese’s time together, which includes a news conference scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, they are expected to emphasize their shared interests. REUTERS/Yves Herman/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Facebook-owner Meta Platforms (META.O) on Wednesday introduced temporary measures to limit "potentially unwelcome or unwanted comments" on posts about the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The social media company added it will disable the ability to see the first one or two comments on posts while scrolling the Facebook feed. Earlier this week, some users who posted in support for Palestine or Gaza citizens accused Meta of suppressing their content. Other Instagram users reported their posts and stories about Palestine were not receiving views. "This bug affected accounts equally around the globe – not only people trying to post about what’s happening in Israel and Gaza – and it had nothing to do with the subject matter of the content," Meta said.

Revenue at the company, formerly known as Twitter, grew in the high-single digit percentage during the third quarter compared to the second quarter, the source said. The size of X's revenue, which includes money earned through advertising, subscriptions and data licensing, could not be learned. The company's U.S. ad revenue has declined each month on a year-over-year basis since Musk's acquisition, according to data from ad analytics firm Guideline, which tracks ad spending data from major ad agencies. In the meeting, Yaccarino said the company's revenue drivers would include political ads, as the company lifted a pre-acquisition global ban on such ads, according to the source. X will also focus on serving more small and medium-sized advertisers, which Yaccarino described during the meeting as a major growth opportunity, the source said.

But then two days beforehand Musk raised "several spurious objections" and told the SEC he would not appear, the SEC said. According to the filing, Musk has given the SEC documents relating to the probe and has previously provided testimony in July last year via video conference. "The SEC has already taken Mr. Musk's testimony multiple times in this misguided investigation - enough is enough," said a statement from Alex Spiro, an attorney for Musk. Musk acquired Twitter after initially building a large minority stake in the social media platform, which he first disclosed in April 2022. Faced with a trial that sought to compel him to complete the deal, Musk closed his acquisition of Twitter in late October 2022.

If Dr. Choi’s mother had a specialty, it was her encyclopedic knowledge of Korean ceremonial foods like yakgwa and how to present them. That’s why the recent commercialization of the cookie, with its ubiquity among young people who respect the tradition enough to reinterpret it, has delighted Dr. Choi. Today, Koreans enjoy yakgwa outside of those rites of passage, like as an after-school snack or weekday dessert with vanilla ice cream. When fresh, the cookie’s sticky, amber syrup should drip off slowly, drenching your fingers, like Winnie the Pooh’s paw, in honey. Before billionaire Elon Musk acquired the company in October, Twitter had banned all political ads globally since 2019. The move to allow all political ads in the U.S. could help X grow its revenue at a time when many advertisers have fled or reduced spending on the platform for fear of appearing next to inappropriate content. The company said it would create a global advertising transparency center, which would let users see what political ads were being promoted on X, and added it would continue to prohibit political ads that spread false information or seek to undermine public confidence in an election.

CNBC's Investing in Space newsletter offers a view into the business of space exploration and privatization, delivered straight to your inbox. Last year I wrote about the key terms investors should know about the steps involved in a rocket launch, to give a guide for what phrases mean in context. A number of you found that launch guide helpful, so I'm back with another synthesized glossary – but this time for satellites! We've seen a couple of satellites going awry this summer, and I've gotten questions like: "Dang, I thought the launch was successful?" Processing: Mounting the satellite to the rocket and making sure the satellite is healthy, fueled up and ready for launch.
